Seconde école Franco-Indienne

The goal IFAS2 school is to bring together students from different horizons, expose them to high level specilized lectures, and propose them to carry-on a one-week research project. The topic of the present school is the astrophysical modelisations and simulations developped to interpret the observations of the formation and evolution of galaxies.

The school is open to pre-to-post doctoral students, and possibly to academics. It will be hosted by Centre de Recherche Astrophysique de Lyon (CRAL, France) from July 11th to 16th 2016. It is co-organized by Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA, India), and the LabEX Lyon Institute of Origins (LIO, France).

IFAS2 is the second Indo-French Astronomical School jointly organized by CRAL, LIO and IUCAA. The first school, hold in Pune (India) in November 2015, treated of Observational Spectroscopy.

CRAL has a cutting edge expertise both in cosmology and physics of galaxies. LIO is a project to coordinate multidisciplinary efforts to progress toward the understandings of the Origins. IUCAA is coordinating major efforts to build theoretical models to explain formation and evolution of galaxies to Indian astronomers.

Four lectures will be given during the morning sessions, and research projects will be proposed to the participants, in small groups supported by a tutor. The school will be concluded by a presentation of the results of these projects.

Up to 30 participants will be selected. The applications are open from master to postdoctoral levels, and to academics. The organizers will provide partial or full financial support on demand and justification.

Registrations are now open here.
