Public and scholar science events programme - EWASS 2019

in conjonction with the astrophysical colloquium EWASS 2019

CRAL is organizing EWASS 2019 (European Week of Astronomy and Space Science), an international conference that will take place at the Manufacture des Tabacs from 24^th to 28^th June 2019. EWASS represents the largest European astronomical conference, bringing together the diverse European astronomical community. Every year the conference is organized in a different country, with the support of the European Astronomical Society (EAS).

EWASS 2019 also coincides with the:
- 50^th anniversary of the Moon Landing
- 80^th year of the CNRS
- 100^th year since the foundation of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in Paris in 1919.

We wish that the local public also benefits as much as possible from this exciting time share astronomy. So spread throughout May, June and July 2019, we have arranged a series of events for all to enjoy and learn about space.

• May-June 2019: Exhibition « Les 100 ans de l’éclipse de 1919 : une preuve de la théorie de la relativité d’Einstein »
• Wenesday 5^th June 2019 at 2pm: Price-giving ceremony of the school contest « Le Petit Prince et l’Astronomie »
• June 2019 : Exhibition « La mission spatiale Euclid »
• From 23^th to 30^th June 2019: Exhibition « COSMOGRAFF: Voyage à travers le Système Solaire » of the association DéMesures, within the framework of the festival « Tout l’monde dehors » of the Ville de Lyon
• Saturday 22^nd and Tuesday 25^th June 2019 at 7.30pm: Final contest of scientific vidéos Youtube, in collaboration with the MJC d’Oullins
• Thuesday 27^th June 2019 at 8pm: Public debate evening about « Le retour de l’obscurantisme et les fakes news »
• Friday 28^th June 2019 at 7pm: Public lecture « Mondes habitables dans le système solaire » by Athena Coustenis, astrophysicist at the lab LESIA (Paris Observatory)
• 22^nd and 23^rd June 2019: Citizen picnic « Place à l’observation du Soleil », in the framework of the festival « Tout l’monde dehors » of Ville de Lyon
• 5^th July 2019 at 8pm: Round-table discussion about « (re)Connaitre le talent des femmes ! »
