- Formation and evolution of galaxies
  • Studies in reionisation and galaxies of the distant Universe.
    • with deep observations exploiting most available facilities (notably VLT/MUSE, HST, ALMA) and gravitational lensing amplification (e.g. with Frontier Fields),
    • with semi-analytic models specialised for high-z galaxy populations (GALICS),
    • with cosmological radiation-hydrodynamic simulations of the first galaxies (RAMSES). Radiative transfer of ionising radiation and of the Lyman-alpha line (MCLya).
  • Studies of the resolved properties of low-mass galaxies, either distant or local
    • in observing distant gravitationnally lensed objects,
    • in analysing and modelling the physical properties and stellar populations of local galaxies, notably using HyperLEDA.

- Observational cosmology
  • Large extragalactic surveys (EUCLID, 4MOST)
  • Supernovae surveys (SNFactory) and standardisation of SN Ia
  • Clusters of galaxies

- Scientific support and exploitation for instrumental projects at CRAL
  • ESO-VLT/MUSE
  • ESA-JWST/NIRSpec
  • ESO-VISTA/4MOST
  • ESO-ELT/HARMONI
  • UH2.2-IfA/SNIFS
